On Aug. 10, 2021, the Senate approved a long-awaited and debated $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that includes $579 billion in new spending for specific infrastructure needs. A majority of that spending is targeted to transportation – combined funds to the tune of $274 billion. For the plumbing and HVAC industry, there are funding mechanisms found in several allocations – $55 billion for water infrastructure, $47 billion for resiliency, and $5 billion for western water storage. Much of this money is for streams and waterway infrastructure projects, but parts of this money are available for water distribution projects.
