Assessment Testing for Advanced Placement into the Apprenticeship Program
Do you have a technician with hands-on experience in Plumbing or HVAC? They may be eligible for advance placement in our apprenticeship program by taking an assessment test. Assessment testing allows experienced technicians to demonstrate their existing knowledge and enter at a more advanced level, saving time and accelerating their career.

Why Take an Assessment Test?
Our Plumbing and HVAC apprenticeship programs are designed to meet students where they are. If an applicant already has industry experience, this assessment gives them the opportunity to test into a higher-level class, rather than start from year one.
This is a proctored, 45-minute virtual exam designed to measure knowledge and skills that should already be mastered at each program level.
What to Know Before You Register
Testing Format:
All assessments are administered virtually and consist of 50 questions to be completed within 45 minutes.
Test-takers must use a computer with internet access and a webcam for remote proctoring.
If a student doesn’t have access to a suitable setup, they may use facilities offered by their employer or a local library.
Passing Criteria:
To advance, students must score above 75% and space must be available in the class level they qualify for.
Cost:
$150 per exam (must be paid upon registering)
Refund Policy:
No refunds are issued for failing the first-year test. If a student registers for multiple exams and fails one, they will be refunded for any higher-level exams they are no longer eligible to take.
Study Materials:
No study guides are provided. The exam is designed to assess current knowledge, no prep required, and none needed if the student has truly mastered the material.
Please Note: Students are only permitted to go through the Placement Test Process one time. After those tests, once they are placed into a level of Apprenticeship, they must complete the program from that point forward.
Additional Information
Those coming into our program with no credit hours from another program, may choose to test in at a higher level, but they must start by passing the level 1 exam and pass each exam until their desired entry level. (If an apprentice would want to test in at level three, with no prior course credit, they would need to pass level 1 before attempting level 2).
Those coming in from a program with course credit may attempt to test into the next level only.
